Managing Attorney: Ms. Shellon Boyce, LLB

Ms. Boyce, having previously obtained a BA in History from the University of Guyana in 2005, graduated with a Bachelor of Laws degree from the same university in 2009, attended Hugh Wooding Law School 2009-2011 and was called to the Guyana Bar in November 2011.

She then worked with the chambers of Hanoman, Jackson & Associates until joining the Clinic in November 2014.

Ms. Boyce, who has previous legal aid experience, having worked at the Hugh Wooding Legal Aid Clinic between October 2010 and April 2011, is based at the Georgetown office.

Ms. Boyce was appointed acting managing attorney in June 2017 following the resignation of Ms. Simone Morris-Ramlall and was appointed substantive managing attorney with effect from 1 July 2017.

Ms. Yolanda Lamott, LLB, Attorney-at-Law, Assistant Managing Attorney

Ms. Lamott Ms. Boyce, having previously obtained a Teaching Certificate from the Cyril Potter College of education in 1998 and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Guyana in 2003, obtained a Bachelor Laws degree from the same university in 2007, attended Hugh Wooding Law School 2009-2011 and was called to the Guyana Bar in November 2011.

She then worked with the clinic at our Anna Regina until December 2013, and from January 2014 until rejoining the clinic on 1 September 2017 as assistant managing attorney, was corporate secretary/legal officer to the Guyana Lands & Surveys Commission.

Ms. Lamott is based at the Georgetown office.

Ms. Sasha Roberts, LLB, Attorney-at-Law

Ms. Roberts graduated with a Bachelor of Laws degree in 2007 from the University of Guyana. She obtained her Legal Education Certificate from Hugh Wooding Law School and was called to the Guyana Bar in October 2009.

In the summer of 2008, Ms. Roberts did her internship at the Attorney-General’s Chambers.

Ms. Roberts is based at the Clinic’s New Amsterdam office and also provides services at the Fort Wellington office.

Ms. Valensia T. Yansen, LLB, Attorney-at-Law

Ms. Yansen graduated with a Bachelor of Laws degree in 2011 from the University of Guyana (having obtained a Bsc in International Relations in 2008 and a Diploma in Social Security and Management in 2004 from the same institution and also being a certified orthopaedic technician), attended Hugh Wooding Law School 2011-13 and was called to the Guyana Bar in October 2013.

Ms. Yansen is based at the Anna Regina office and has previous legal aid experience, having worked for 10 weeks at the Hugh Wooding Legal Aid Clinic in 2012.

Ms. Shameka Taitt, LLB, Attorney-at-Law

Ms. Taitt obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Guyana in 2008 and after a period of teaching at a Georgetown secondary school, attended Hugh Wooding Law School 2012-2014 and was called to the Guyana Bar in November 2014.

Prior to joining the Clinic in February 2016, Ms. Taitt was Legal Officer at the Guyana Council on Public Policy.

Ms. Collette Marks, LLB, Attorney-at-Law

Ms. Marks obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Guyana in 2014, attended Hugh Wooding Law School 2014-2016 and was called to the Guyana Bar in October 2016.

Mr. Ravindra Mohabir, LLB, Attorney-at-Law

Mr. Mohabir obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Guyana in 2015, attended Hugh Wooding Law School 2015-17 and was called to the Guyana Bar in October 2017. He is based at the Georgetown office.
